Been going here since the age of 5. If you are looking for a great breakfast and pretty much one of the best homemade banquet burgers that you'll ever have...you need to visit here.
Not much has changed décor since the 80's ..who cares, it a shrine to hockey memorabilia and stars who have visited this place. Beers are cheap as well. Service is good and the food being prepared by Chris the owner.
Other notable food to try, would be their pork souvlaki..unreal..better than most of the high end Greek restaurants on the Danforth. In a nutshell, Detroit eatery is the type of place that you will take your kids, and your kids will take theirs as I have done!. -

This place has the solution for a hangover or if you're on a budget, or both. All day greasy spoon breakfast available for $6-$10. If you prefer something heartier they also have souvlaki dinners and juicy burgers that don't break the bank.
The space is small so expect to wait if you're stopping by during prime breakfast/brunch hours on the weekend. You'll clog some arteries, maybe get over your hangover, and won't break the bank.
Cash or debit only, and you pay at the front. -

I lived just blocks off the Danforth years ago and must've walked past this place 100 times at least. A decade later when visiting Toronto, decided to stop in for breakfast on a sunny Friday in late September, around 9am. Inside is your typical greasy diner with six or eight barstools, and a handful of tables that seat 36 I think I counted. As expected from the outside, the atmosphere is all Detroit, but not all Red Wings paraphernalia. Photos of regular customers in Detroit? Yes, lots of hockey stuff, but also KISS knickknacks, etc. Darker and grungier than I pictured, but still not bad. Assume one of the old fellas that served me is an owner? Took a seat in the back and within a minute he took my order of the all day breakfast ($7.50 for 2 eggs, toast, home fries &bacon). Nothing fancy here but 6 huge slices of bacon, the home fries were not frozen/greasy and simple. I was full. The black coffee a bit weak but good for me. I'd go back.

Came here at the recommendation of my Airbnb host. Place looks like a dive, which is not a bad thing for a breakfast place. Had the 2 eggs with sausage for 7.50$. Very genius on the sausage and the potatoes were good.. Coffee is decent. Place is more Greektown than Detroit though. Service was efficient if a bit surly.. Probably because I'm not greek.. Lol

My favorite local hangout for a good and quick breakfast, burger or beer. I recently stopped in for brunch after being away for some time (a few weeks) and I was reminded how great Detroit Eatery is. Unpretentious, always friendly, quick and relaxed service, and great food for a deal on Danforth. Alex is always there and happy to see you, and guaranteed great service from Sam if she's in. The World Cup first brought me there as it's one of the few places with a couple TVs and channels to watch your favorite game. I've even made new friends sitting along the counter. Don't bother if you're all dressed up and after haute culture, but if you're simply hungry and after easy friendly relaxed company, this is your place. It's one spot I hope stays perfectly frozen in time, while the city swirls in a whirlwind around it.
